“The water that breaks the stone.”

This is what Michelangelo – who suffered from kidney stones – wrote in a letter in 1549. It is one of the oldest and most famous testimonies to the benefits of Fiuggi water.

History is full of stories of kings, nobles and ambassadors who benefitted from drinking this miraculous water. Pope Boniface VIII was born in Ciociaria and used to drink the wholesome water from the Fiuggi spring. The pope’s accounting records document over 187 payments for the transportation of water from Fiuggi to Rome.

More recently, other famous figures have reaped the benefits of drinking Fiuggi water. The phrase ‘the water that breaks the stone’ was used by Michelangelo based on his own personal observation, and today has a sound scientific explanation.

The Fiuggi reservoir is located within the Ernici mountain range. The water emerges from the Fiuggi spring at a temperature of 12.4°C and has two different sources: the Boniface VIII spring and the Anticolana spring.

With its mix of open and closed spaces and lush vegetation, the park surrounding the spring is the perfect place to reconnect with your own physical well-being. Water therapy using Fiuggi water is highly recommended for treating bladder stones and preventing their recurrence.
